COME AND FLY WITH ME - THEATRE play at our school

Come Fly with Me is about three great women who changed the world. Valentina Tereshkova the first woman in space, Trudie Ederle, the first women to swim the English Channel and Amy Johnson, the first woman to fly solo from London to Australia.

We meet Valentina at school while she looks out of the window and wonders what it would be like to travel into space.

We then meet Trudie on her first failed attempt and learn what we need to do when swimming the Channel.

We follow her successful attempt and students join in asking her questions. We are then swept up in the air with Amy in her plane Jason.

We fly to Australia, through all types of weather and over all kinds of terrain.

Finally we are again with Valentina who is looking down from space and tell us how small and fragile the earth is.

Through the stories of these women we find out what they did, why they inspire us and what they taught us.

All the stories were amazing. We had a great time!!

About GLOBAL SCHOLARS

This is the 9th year that 6th graders in our school are participating in the GLOBAL SCHOLARS 's program.

Each year, Global Scholars classrooms participate in an original, project-based curriculum focused on a single global challenge. Each year’s topic is interdisciplinary and has observable impacts on daily life around the world, such as clean water, environmental sustainability, or the world food supply.

Throughout five units of study, students complete project-based assignments to observe how this challenge plays out in their own cities, then exchange observations with international peers in e-classroom discussion boards. The discussion board posts and replies provide a unique primary source through which students gain a global perspective on worldwide impacts and solutions.

Each curriculum unit requires students to apply different digital tools to research, create, and present original work, providing frequent opportunities for hands-on practice. From video editing to 3D design, students are using technology for a purpose— to actively learn and share ideas with one another.

We are really excited to share with all you our work!!
